Project Pelita was established to provide for the needs of the students from disadvantaged and needy families.
Curiosity and a genuine intention to learn more about the source of delinquency in certain areas spurred us on to delve further into the inner machinations of the malay community within our vicinity. One thing led to another and soon enough Project Pelita was established.
We believe that the optimal way to provide assistance to the community was firstly through providing educational guidance to the young from disadvantaged families and henceforth plant the seeds for further agendas to come.
After many months of planning, house visits, ploughing through addresses of welfare recipients and even a stake out at playgrounds and other infamous haunts. Project Pelita, a weekly 4 hour free tuition scheme for primary and secondary school students was established on the 26th of March, 2006.And hence the journey starts
